Richard J. “Jay” Reding

Richard J. “Jay” Reding is a Partner at ASK LLP. Jay represents trustees, debtors-in-possession, and creditors in preference analysis and litigation of avoidance actions in bankruptcy, including appellate proceedings. Jay also represents creditors and unsecured creditors’ committees seeking to maximize their recovery and vindicate their rights in bankruptcy proceedings. Representative matters include the prosecution of avoidance actions in large bankruptcies such as hhgregg, Inc.; Hancock Fabrics, Inc.; Samson Resources Corporation; and American Apparel, Inc.

Prior to joining ASK LLP, Jay represented debtors, creditors, and trustees in bankruptcy litigation, including avoidance actions, fraudulent transfer cases, and fee disputes. In addition, Jay litigated cases in Minnesota state and federal court.

Prior to entering private practice, Jay was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Louise Dovre Bjorkman of the Minnesota State Court of Appeals.

Jay received his JD from the University of St. Thomas School of Law (2009), graduating magna cum laude and serving as a senior editor of the University of St. Thomas Law Journal. Jay earned his B.A. in Political Science from Gustavus Adolphus College (2003).

Jay is admitted to the bar of the State of Minnesota and the Federal District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Jay is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
