Homes of Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs Raided in Human Trafficking Investigation

The homes of Sean Combs, known in the music industry as “Diddy,” were raided on Monday, March 25th, by Homeland Security as a result of an ongoing human trafficking investigation. A recent article by Fox News discusses his past legal troubles and the circumstances surrounding the raids on his Los Angeles and Miami properties.

While Combs avidly denies these allegations, many believe the raids could still damage his reputation even if he is not charged. ASK, LLP Attorney Judie Sanders is quoted on the topic: “Liberty, business, personal reputation and legacy are all at stake and may be subject to an immediate demise. The search of his residences by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations’ Transnational Organized Crime Division is a clear indication of the severity of the government’s investigation and possible charges that Combs may face in the near future.”

Current Sexual Trafficking Allegations Follow a String of Past Criminal Investigations

This is far from Combs’ first run-in with the law, as it follows a string of past charges and investigations spanning the last 24 years for crimes such as assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief, harassment, sexual assault, and more. One 1999 arrest shows charges of assault and criminal mischief after an altercation with a music executive, followed by another in 1999 where he and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were arrested after a shooting at a nightclub. Combs was found not guilty at trial, but Shyne, who was with them that night, was convicted. He also faced accusations of sexual assault by multiple women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie, and a 2017 lawsuit filed by his former personal chef alleging sexual harassment.

Combs Denies Claims While Investigation Continues

Combs and his lawyer deny recent allegations in connection to human trafficking and claim Combs is in full cooperation with the investigation and confident that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing. They used words such as “unprecedented ambush,” “witch hunt,” and meritless accusations” while describing the raids on his homes. His lawyer said that the excessive force used by Homeland Security during the raid is an indication of nothing more than a media frenzy surrounding the accusations.
