WHAT IS A MASS TORT?
A mass tort is a legal action in which many plaintiffs file individual lawsuits against one or a few defendants for harm caused by the same product, event, or action. The plaintiffs typically suffer similar injuries, but the lawsuits are handled individually, unlike in a class action lawsuit, where a single lawsuit is filed on behalf of a large group of people.
